President's Letter

Dear NNL Friends,

Welcome back spring! As I write this letter, it is a gloomy, rainy day without our glorious Texas sunshine. Although I don’t miss the intense heat, I am looking forward to the day when I can get out into the garden to see what plants are flourishing and which need a little help.

In a similar way, we are looking at our NNL interest groups to determine those that could use pruning or maybe a little fertilizer.

Three groups have been disbanded – Golf, Spanish and Crafting – and one, Soul Collage, is presently on hold until we can find a convenient period of time for people to attend.

On the other hand, two current groups are being reintroduced because many members have expressed interest. The first, "It’s 5:00 at Bombay", is on the 4th Friday of every month at the Bombay Lounge on Yorktown (just West of Cimarron) for fun and ½ price drinks and appetizers. The second is the Girls Night Out group which plans to meet each month – usually on a weeknight – for various activities that our members find interesting. Thanks to Patsy Severin, Liz Gordon and Carole Anne Jenness for quickly reviving these groups for us.

New groups continue to spring up as well. At the end of February, "Bridge III" will be out thanks largely to the efforts of a new member, Sue Byrne and club coordinator, Marsha Dooley. New groups can be suggested at any time by any member – simply talk to the club coordinator to start the process.

So take a look at your schedule and consider making time for one of these groups soon. I know I will!

Your friend and President,

Karen Haug
