Luncheon - July 2008
President Vicki Gaarder presides at the luncheon. She stayed calm, as usual, as the PA didn't work, the crowd of people wouldn't stop talking and sit down, etc. However, all went off perfectly, including the great salad plate and delectable chocolate cake.
Advisor Terrie Bodine visits with our luncheon speaker, William Botts. "Buzz" is the Education Coordinator for the National Parks Service at the Padre Island National Seashore. His talk was on "The Success of the Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtles Recovery Effort". Vice-President Elizabeth Feeney went with the Beach Club when the group had their Beach Day at the National Seashore and she met Buzz. She invited him "on the spot" to be our July speaker. It was a good choice and an interesting presentation.
Buzz displays a Ridley Sea Turtle shell.
He also shows this photograph of a Ridley.

Bridget wins the July Birthday drawing. (Since she also hands out the gift, we all watched closely to see that there was NO cheating. FYI, the drawing was fair!)
Jean Marie Welch wins the 50/50 money. We all loved her poem on the cover of the Sanddollar. What a talent!
Susie Wright wins the $50 for the New Member Rush for last term. Congratulations, we really enjoy the 2 Salvation Army gals, who you recruited as NNL members.
