Luncheon - June 2006

Mary Ann Gray brings 3 friends, who are quilters, so they can enjoy the program. Allene, Lottie and Modine are in her Exercise Class. (Maybe they'll find our club lots of fun and come back again!) In the backgound, is the Underground Railroad Quilt that Mollie Zick made, and her presentation explained how each square represented a series of quilts that were used during the Civil War to help slaves escape to the North.

Mollie brings her husband, Karl, the computer expert and ...

... her friend, Karen Berg-Andreassan, to handle the music for her presentation.

Coffee Chair Barbara Wendland and Assistant Coffee Chair Kathy Salch get to take off their aprons when it comes to the NNL luncheon. Julie Brower poses with them (and instructs me on how to take a good picture of her!). However, as pretty as she is, it's not hard!

Scrapbook Chair Terrrie Bodine poses with Sunshine Chair JoAnn Robertson, who has brought her sister, Janet Porter.

These IMPORTANT people are doing a serious study of something or SOMEONE!! They are Advisor Mary Jo Cheesman, Debbie Hernandez and VIP President Jackie Del Nano.

President Sandra Richmond (on the right) poses with Gloria Waller and Glenda Tvrdik.

Advisor Sally Galyon (on the right) welcomes back Kitty Lovett. She is the opposite of most people with two homes. She comes back to Corpus Christi in the summer months! Bet she's hitting the beach!

Social Committee Member Gayle Keramian, sporting a cute color coordinated hat as usual, brings Teena Bracco as her guest.

Gloria, Marjorie Abner and new member Jamie Holzer give pretty smiles.

Here again are Kitty and Terrie, who pose with Web Coordinator Nancy Gray. (NOTE - I don't like my picture either, but decided that I'd better include it after all. And, I'm posing ... so have no room to gripe!!)

Sally Wakefield, Charlotte McElroy and Glenda await the food and the program.

Prospective Member Chair Alma Grady enjoys the delicious lunch with Prospective Member Abbie Elliott.

Vice-President Kathy Jacobs introduces our program.

According to Mollie, her husband Karl designed her Power Point presentation. This picture shows the routes that the Underground Railroad used to help the slaves leave the south and go to Canada.

The quilt demonstrates each block used in the Underground Railroad.

Mollie describes how each block aids the slaves along the way. Since they did not know how to read, the quilts were put out on fences to tell the slaves what they should do next, where to find food and shelter, and what to be aware of. This is the "Carpenter's Wheel" block.

Great job, Mollie!!!

Susie Wright introduces our June rose, who is ...

... Irene Pratap. She tells something special about each person who is sitting at her table.

They are Mary Duncan, Kae Martin, Marcia Mayes (hidden), Mary Jo McNinch, Susie, Terrie and Amy Carmel.

Sandra congratulates Irene and presents her with the Rose pin.

Social Chair Candance Gregston announces that our Social this term will be a Casino Night on September 16th at the Town Club. Watch the Sanddollar for details.

Membership Chair Sharon Lester introduces a new member, Jamie Holzer. She also conducts the birthday drawing for the June Birthday and the winner is ...

... Reservation Assistant Sylvia Earnst

The 50/50 winner is Mary Jo McNinch. She had bought one set of tickets and, when Candyce asked for one MORE $1.00 to keep from getting the 50 cent change, she bought a 2nd set of tickets. From which set was the winning ticket, Mary Jo?
