Luncheon - July 2006

The July Rose is Advisor Jennifer Oler. She has brought her husband, Pat. They have been sweethearts since Junior High. (And we know that each of them is truly a "sweetheart".)

The lunch is a barbeque buffet at Kings Crossing Country Club - complete with both greens and potato salad, corn on the cob, chicken and YES - even chili beans. Yum, yum - good ole' South Texas food.

You can see the steam coming off of the chili as Juanita Powell serves her bowl.

Advisor Sylvia Whitworth visits with fellow sailor and traveler, Sharon Blair, as Prospective Member Sherry Kendrick looks on.

President Sandra Richmond speaks to Marion Gholston and Sanddollar Editor Gwen Seeger.

July Holloway, Sally Wakefield, Assistant Treasurer Linda Dorsey and new member, Jamie Holzer, are about ready to get in line for the main course.

Left to right are Scrapbook Chair Terrie Bodine, Ways and Means Chair Carol Gigliotti, Glenda Tvrdik, our speaker Margaret Hawkins, Joyce Seitz, Vice President Kathy Jacobs and Advisor Sally Galyon.

The Rose table consists of Jana Gann, Membership Chair Sharon Lester, Secretary Linda Sassenrath (back to camera), Candy Duncan, Jennifer, Pat, VIP President Jackie DelNano and Debra Hernandez (back to camera).

Prospective Member Chair Alma Grady introduces the prospective members and guests.

Margie Schroeder has brought a guest, Jean-Marie Welch.

Mary Ann Gray brought guests Amelia Verley and G. G. Kelley.

She also brought her new neighbor, Laurie Scherger, who just moved here from Ohio.

Susie Wright has brought the new Salvation Army commander, Lois Tracey, as a Prospective Member.

Mary Jo McNinch and Carol Allen give a toast. (Carol has been out of town so much that she needed a "Remember Me" nametag.)

Gloria Waller and Carolyn Cutbirth enjoy their lunch.

Membership Chair Sharon Lester announces our new members and conducts the July birthday drawing. The winner is ...

... Ouida Van Dyke. She says that she likes a buffet and so was thrilled with the meal.

The luncheon speaker is Margaret Hawkins, a former NNL member, who speeks on H2U (Health, Happiness, and You) Wellness Center. Using a visual presentation, she showed how the relationship with our Physician is a partnership and we need to be active participants in our health.

Candy introduces our Rose, Jennifer Oler, ...

... as Jennifer looks on. (What a great smile from a great girl!)

Jennifer thanks the club for the honor. The pink doll is from Christy Rutledge, with whom she visited when she was in the Dallas area recently. (Her kids and granddaughters live there and Jennifer LOVES to go see them.) Christy has recently moved to Weatherford, Texas and we sure miss her!

Sandra pins on the Rose pin. (She promises NOT to stick her, but can she be trusted?)

Social Chair Candyce Gregston reminds us of the Casino Party, Saturday night, September 16th, at the Town Club. She hands out refrigerator magnets with info about the party.

Ways and Means Chair Carol Gigliotti reminds us of the Bazaar, which will be held at the September 14th luncheon. There are ONLY 5 tables left for purchase for members to display and sell items they make. Baskets are being donated and will be raffled off. Wow!!! We'll have a busy, fun September.

Treasurer Ruby Gabelmann is chairman of the Nominating Committee and she encourages eligible members (those who have been in NNL less than 2 years) to write their choices for positions for next term. Ruby was also given the Fun and Friendship award for July.
