VIP Luncheon - April 2006

The Spring VIP luncheon showed "Easter Egg" colors, as we see Candyce Gregston, Candy Duncan and Mary Jo Cheesman use bright colors to set off their black.

Ann Foster and Billie Snowden wear lovely pink and blue outfits. Looks great with Margie Schroeder's beautiful table decoration.

Jennifer Oler is relaxing as her term of NNL President is over. And what a great job she did! Sharon Lester is Membership Chair and is also handling the job of Prospective Member Chair while Estelle Hicks is out of town. Scrapbook Chair Terrie Bodine brought her camera too in case she saw a picture opportunity for the President's scrapbook.

Lena Maude Muellar, Julie Brower and Jane Cheesman await the Style Show.

Bet Janice Andreas is telling Josie O'Flynn and Dee Gregg about her home remodeling. She has turned a disaster (house fire) into an opportunity. What an inspiration she is!

Kay Thomas has brought Mary Lou Sloan (on her left), another Iowan and Winter Texan, and neighbor Sami Cameron (on her right). Standing is Carol Lyskawa.

Amy Carmel (2nd from left) is moving to Alaska, but she has brought a Prospective member, Sarah. Mollie Zick is enjoying the show, as is Sally Galyon (hidden) and NNL VP Kathy Jacobs. Kathy later won the 50/50 drawing.

Margie Schroeder's ensemble is fresh from the 2006 collection of the House of Rummage, found at the Grace Presbyterian Rummage Sale several weeks ago. She is the MC for the "Fads and Fashions Style Show". She got the original script from her Mom. who did it for an Altrusa International (women's service club) District Conference program in 1972. Margie has used the script in many locations, but she says, "What was so funny this time around is just how many of the terms/styles have come back in style!! Proof that if you hang onto something long enough, it is stylish - if you can get into it!!"

The Sack dress, from the House of Betty Crocker, is worn by Kae Martin to the tune "Pack Up Your Troubles". Her attire is highlighted with the marshmallow purse and clothes pin necklace.

Jackie Del Nano comes in to "Mac the Knife", wearing a
stunning slip over sweater and knife pleated skirt from the "No Where
Creations". Knives hanging on a rope around the waist make it a sharp outfit
when she dresses in a hurry. The alligator bag adds the perfect snap to the
outfit.
Alice Murphy waltzes in to "Million Dollar Baby" with her "checked" cape, stunning red hat and her "bone bag". Look close and see the dog bones in the onion bag!!!!

"Paper Doll" is the song for Lois McCray in her standard
favorite box suit from the House of Cartons Unlimited. Her pill box hat is by
Medicare. Rounding out her ensemble is the envelope purse and kid gloves.

"Bicycle Built for Two" is the theme for Ruth Williams - in
her pedal pushers, crop top blouse (great crop of grapes) and her bucket purse
just large enough to carry her extra hose.

Mary Jo Cheesman, 1st in fashion, appears in this colorful
comic skirt designed by the Corpus Christi Caller Times. Her pretty picture hat
frames her face so well. Note the straw purse!
"Anchors Away" brings our Kae around again - showing the
modernized Navy "union forms" with bell bottom pants that have locked in
creases. (She had those safety pins in a straight row!!!) The stocking cap
is a new twist - you can see through it when it is rolled down, in a gale.

Jackie horns in to the tune of "My Merry Oldsmobile" - in her
car coat from "Fashion Your Own Seat Belt" spring line. The convertible collar
can be worn up or down. That's a lovely clutch purse - and the divine hubcap
hat is so good for those "tiring" days.

"Baby Doll" is popular again and this our Texas Baby Doll, Alice , with a stunning color and print. Cowgirls everywhere! She has a story book bonnet, her security blankie, bib and bottle, to complete her outfit.

We just got wind of Mary Jo's latest outfit - a colorful
balloon dress. She was blowing a lot of bubbles getting ready for today! You
sit down very carefully and it cushions you. Note her can-can slip and airy
hat.
Ruth chooses a damask and lace outfit by Lennox and Wm.
Rogers, with a scoop neckline, spicy earrings, centerpiece hat and silver bread
basket purse. She shows real taste.
Last is sleepy Lois in her gown designed by King Koil from the
house of sleep. (a dream or a nightmare?!?!?!?) Cold cream preserves her glowing
complexion and the curler bonnet keeps every hair in place.

Margie says, "Chico's, Coldwater Creek and Pilar's have nothing to fear! We had great fun putting it together and the perfect touch was all the great music by Marjorie Abner."

The curtain call - great show and clever idea. (NOTE: If you don't "catch on", you SHOULD have been there!!!)
